fire-proofed they had concrete floors over eleven inches thick.

1947 May 23rd Bolton's first contingent of European
volunteer workers (formerly known as displaced persons) has arrived,
and is settling down to work at John Harwood and Sons Persian Mill,
Bayley St. Two of the four women who have come are Lithuanians, and
two White Russians. They cannot speak English, but everything possible
is being done to help them overcome the language difficulty and to make
them feel welcome.
