1948 Feb 25th Much to the delight of women workers, but to the consternation
of local laundries, at least two cotton mills have decided to install
washing machines, and are at present awaiting delivery. Mr F.E. Nelson,
managing director of the Dart Mill, who recently saw modern type washing
machines in America, hopes to have five or six machines in his own
mill. The women will bring their washing to the mill in the morning,
and will take it home to be dried and ironed, having been washed for
a nominal charge at the mill.

1975 Jan 20th Bolton textile firm, Dart Yarns of Union Road, is to
close - the third textile closure in Bolton announced this year.
