rope makers, including Charnock J. (Cotton), Slater Lane; Lever, Jas.
& Sons, Ltd, Crown Rope Works, Delph Street; Best & Co, Fogg's
Yard, Bridge Street; and Hulton & Wood, 5 Corporation Chambers,
Corporation Street. An advertisement for Taylor's in that directory
said "Contractors to British and Foreign Governments"
