Lady Chapel

I was a server in the church, most Sundays, and also on alternate
Tuesday and Thursday mornings for 7.00am Holy Communion in the
Lady Chapel - when, to be honest, the only people usually there
were the vicar and me! One haunting memory I have is of Rev.
Winters, dressed all in black with a flowing black cloak, white
silvery hair, emerging from the mist on a dark winter's morning,
as he walked from the vicarage, through Heywood Park down Hobson
Street towards Platt Street (where I lived), to church about
6.30am for the early morning service. Very eerie, looked like
something from the Hammer Horror Films!
